In the dark of the early morning, we cruised into Nordfjorden. In the Crow’s Nest we watched as the scene slowly brightened. The travel guide began narration of the journey through the fjord, the geology, the people, the communities. It was beautiful.

Docking in Olden, we quickly disembarked and searched out the vendor for the Loen Lift & shuttle bus. Buying tickets, we were able to board the first bus out.

The Skylift climbed at 54°, and brought us to the upper station. The views were phenomenal. We hit the lower viewing platform as the sun broke from behind the mountain- and we had it to ourselves!

Wandering around the area brought more perspectives and views. Then we started up the trail, heading to Skredfjellet, winding our way up the mountain. Jen made it to the second (and penultimate) cairn, while Lana continued to summit.

Eventually descending and returning to town, we went on board to change gears and grab a quick lunch. Then we walked into town, going by houses old and older, and checked out gift shops. We also saw the old old church.

Lana continued wandering to the new old church, while Jen wandered back to the ship. The afternoon concluded with a game of Scrabble and dinner.
