We slept until 7:30 this morning, solving the jet lag problem. After showers and packing up we headed back to the airport/train station on the shuttle, where we grabbed breakfast. Sated, we took the train to Rotterdam (spotting egrets, herons, and jackdaws along the way).

At Rotterdam, we took the Metro four stops, which brought us within a block of the terminal. We dropped our bags, and embarked very shortly after. We enjoyed lunch at the Lido – custom salads, some pork loin for Jen and salmon for Lana – and then toured the ship.

We eventually settled in the Crows Nest lounge, with great views of the foggy port. Then it was sail away, with the Port fire department giving us a big wave of a send off!

Then it was time to unpack and change for dinner. Formal dining was lovely, with a shrimp and crab cocktail to start, local haddock on risotto for a main, and a lovely mango blueberry crisp with ice cream for dessert.

After dinner we found a quiet corner for a few minutes before exploring the shops and heading to the main stage show, a welcome event.  Following, we headed to deck 14 to check out the night sky situation (dark, no sign of Aurora).

Splitting up, Lana headed back to the room for some quiet while Jen went to BB King’s for live music and the costume contest first.

A good first day
