Today was a sea day. Not typically my first choice for itinerary arrangement, but geography makes it necessary.

I woke early and tried to creep out of the room to the Grand Dutch Cafe, but Lana is a light sleeper and woke up and joined me shortly thereafter. A (decaf for me) coffee and yogurt parfait to start the morning, as brunch didn’t start for two and a half hours.

After coffee we split up: Jen went to Tai Chi, and Lana went looking for birds. Both were successful experiments, with Lana finding a Northern Gannet and a stowaway Starling, and Jen finding some chill.

Meeting up for brunch, we enjoyed fruit, tomato-burrata salad, and crab cakes. Then we wandered to the Crow’s Nest to relax, read, and stare at the horizon.

Late morning brought our Travel Guide’s talk on the culture and activities available at our first two ports. Some good information.

Splitting again, Lana got some chill time in the cabin while Jen had lunch. We met up again to go to the port talk for the latter two ports.

Next was watercolour painting class, focused on jellyfish. Lana made the blue one, Jen the pink one. Then we rejoined the Crow’s Nest crowd, and saw a rainbow!

Then it was time to get ready for formal night. Dinner was delicious – shrimp cocktail and roasted beef tenderloin. I finished with a caramel chocolate lava cake; Lana selected crème brûlée.

Heading back to the Crow’s Nest we grabbed window seats and relaxed a bit (in case we needed more relaxation). Then Jen went back to watercolours while Lana read her book.

A good sea day, but excited for Eidfjord tomorrow!
